Cape Town Flower&garden Show 2008
Added: 03.09.2008Since the inception in 2003, the intention of the Cape Town Flower&Garden Show has been to entertain and inspire a love of gardening in people and to provide a platform that celebrates and showcases the rich floral diversity of the Cape and Southern Africa.
Following the highly successful event held at Lourensford Wine Estate in October 2007, organisers felt confident that they had achieved the correct mix that met all expectations and provided something for everyone, from the expert gardener to the outright novice and from the very young to the very old.The high level of expertise displayed by exhibitors and landscape gardeners led organisers to believe that they would have little trouble in fulfilling the role played by South African Airways whose three year title sponsorship agreement terminated at the end of last year and to this end, all major financial institutions, insurance companies and corporate houses were approached.
However due to the increasingly difficult economic climate, the CTF&GS has been unsuccessful in securing the necessary funding required to host a show that meets the high standards organisers of the event aspire to and it is with deep regret that a decision has been taken not to stage an event this year.
The Cape Town Flower&Garden Show and Lourensford Wine Estate however remain deeply committed to this event and will continue to innovate and realize new ideas and suggestions in order to ensure the on-going success of the show.
"As hosts of the show, Lourensford Wine Estate is disappointed that the Cape Town Flower& Garden Show were unable to secure adequate sponsorship for the 2008 show, but we look forward to 2009 and the CTF&GS can be assured of our continued support", said Anton du Toit, CEO - Lourensford Lanzerac Wines.
