Through changes in ownership and winemakers this historic estate has never faltered from it original roots – a producer of award winning wines.

Today this legacy is preserved under owner Christo Wiese – a legacy that includes the honour of producing the world’s first Pinotage.

Fifty hectares of noble cultivars grace a diversity of soils and microclimates. Extensive soil analysis and preparation have ensured that only the perfect cultivar grape is grown in each vineyard block. While always looking for innovation and improvement Lanzerac has kept much of the traditional vine growing methods – much in the mould of a traditional Bordeaux chateau. All grapes for instance are hand picked.

A modern and ultra-functional cellar ensures that grapes are handled with the utmost of care and Lanzerac can truly claim to produce handcrafted wines in commercial volumes.

Our wine-range came full circle in 2006 with the re-introduction of the iconic Lanzerac Rosé. The Lanzerac range now consists of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé, Merlot, Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and an estate red blend called the Lanzerac Classic.
